Teaching Technique in Philly, Part 3: Threshold Training

ByCrossFit August 28, 2021

How can athletes find the sweet spot when seeking to balance the demands of technique and intensity? Seminar Staff Flowmaster Chuck Carswell draws on examples from his skateboarding experience and the CrossFit benchmark workout Grace to explain how athletes can use threshold training to strike that balance.

The lecture was part of a two-day Scholarship Level 1 Certificate Course held at CrossFit South Philly on March 27, 2021, in partnership with Steve’s Club and the Green Beret Project. The course is sponsored by The CrossFit Scholarship Program, which seeks to spark meaningful healthcare changes in underrepresented and underserved communities by providing free access to the CrossFit Level 1 Certificate Course

“What I am aiming for is the athlete’s threshold speed, which is the fastest speed you can move with correct mechanics,” Carswell explains.

“That threshold speed that we’re aiming for here doesn’t stay the same forever. It should always be a moving target,” he continues.
