10:32 rxd with strict abmat situps. Harder than expected and I kinda expected that because I’ve done a lot of these WODs!

So I did do the deadlifts, situps, and steps unbroken but I didn’t try to hurry. Finished steps in 6:56, then did 5 sets of 5L+5R, and tried not to have a heart attack between sets. Wasn’t gassed going into the thrusters at all but after the first ten I was huffing and puffing!

GRIT workout for Wednesday, the 22nd - both the teleclasses and resident classes will be doing this.

For time:

50 dumbbell deadlifts

50 ab mat sit-ups / back extensions

50 step ups / plank shoulder taps

50 single-arm thrusters / single-arm db press

I will likely encourage most of my standing athletes to scale the thrusters to squats to a box. The majority of them are still developing strength through their full ROM, and adding that dumbbell is going to make it too easy to start cutting corners.

If the seated athletes aren't feeling another go at the plank shoulder taps, we'll swap in some chair dips to mix it up.

I also anticipate a few seated athletes' backs not loving the deadlifts and the back extensions back-to-back. We'll switch to russian twists or side touches to keep that nice fast cycle-time core stimulus.

M/ 46/ 136 lbs/ 5’-6”

Early long run with dog in Woods

Late morning workout in garage after making breakfast for kids:

SVLB Workout 3:

50 DB DL (50)

50 Ab Mat sit ups

50 24” box step ups

50 single arm thrusters (50)

I did Rx but used 45 lb DB for thrusters. When I warmed up I tried 50 and thought I would not move quickly enough so I dropped down 5 lbs but used 50s for DL.

Completed in 9:58

Good workout in middle length time. Could have shaved time really in the thrusters. I did DL quickly going 20,15,10,5. I only took about 5-7 secs break between sets.  (1:36)

Sit ups and step ups were done quickly and unbroken. (1:38, 3:30)

Thrusters took the most time. I did 5 reps/ set with a minimal time between shifting arms. To complete the thrusters in about 3:15.

Post workout I ate and showered and then we went on a nice long hike all together in Coles Woods with Lucy.

Lots of trampoline jumping today as well.

Where are the 14-15, 16-17, 55-59 and 60+ weights. Men’s 55-59 should be 35lbs. It’s like CFHQ forgot all that when they hurried these WODs out to the public.

There is only Rx and scaled. Since most are at home without gear, scaled is whatever you can do with whatever you have for a good workout regardless of age. I did 25lb in 8:15. Was a decent wod, went nearly unbroken, probably should have done 35lb. (51, 210lb)

5 days ago, I hurt “old faithful!” (a.k.a. right shoulder) x-rays showed no break or dislocation. 2nd workout since. 1st was Craig Richey’s leg burner. Today was this. Scaled accordingly!

for time: 50 single arm DL

50 L-leg raises from supine

50 box step ups

50 single arm (only arm) thrusters

w/ 20# DB (8 min. 20 sec.)

Bending, twisting & quick movements really hurt! Went light so I didn’t smoke my left shoulder too bad. 🤣

workout 2: 3 rounds in 13:36

(good arm only)

20 oh lunges

15 floor presses

15 front squats

5 military presses

5 push presses

5 push jerks w/ 20# DB

then, 20 minutes in a cold lake & then, a hot bath!

PPP ran out of money, Pelosi is holding back more funds to add in her pet projects. However, the giant hedge funds and wall street are getting unlimited instant bailouts.

Aaron, Banks are healthy and most are extending their balance sheets as much as regulators will allow. Read Q1 earnings reports... you’ll see loan growth up significantly. Hedge funds and private equity are largely excluded from PPP funds.

Hi Amy,

In the Open, there would be a weight for scaled but this, in my opinion, is for community support instead of competition and the intent is to use whatever would give you a good workout. You could enter your score as is or if you desired do it with lighter weight in hopes for a better time.

Hope this helps,

Tripp

13:07 Rx- all but thrusters

50 DB deadlifts (35# DBs)

50 abmat sit-ups

50 box step ups (35 # DBs, up 2 steps)

50 single arm thrusters (25# DB)

I used the DBs for the step ups too. Also got 4 thrusters at 35# but form started getting bad so dropped the weight.

Did you hold the DB's during the step ups?

Video does not have her holding weights.

I'm going just normal step ups.

Champions Club Scaling Notes

RANT

Nothing off the top

NEW TO CROSSFIT SCALE

3-5 rounds

1:00 of each exercise

MAIN DECISION

Am I ready to go straight through on this thing or do I need to split it up?

WHAT ABOUT THE MOVEMENTS

Squatting - arms in a goofy position, less ROM than formal back/front squat, extra emphasis on midline stability, open circuit with the arms

Get-up - pulling from the hips, flexion/extension in the midline

Squatting again - unilateral loading with legs, a touch of locomotion, less ROM than formal front/back squat

Squatting again, again - unilateral loading with the arms, core-to-extremity, overhead, pushing, open-circuit with the arms

WHAT ABOUT THE REPS

This thing is set up to go unbroken all the way through.

LEARN TO COOK

If you aren't doing this as part of the fundraiser or straight through, you want to set this thing up in a way that gives you enough flexibility to both practice the movement technique (which brings stamina into play) while also getting a breather out of it.

I DON'T WANT TO COOK, JUST GIVE ME FOOD

New to CrossFit Version

GENERAL FEAR LEVEL: probably 7, but I tested out the New to CrossFit version

Globo/Home scale: Do what fits for this one. For step ups, use a chair, bench, steps, stepping stool, ect. For dumbbells, use kettlebells, odd objects, paint cans, milk jugs, water jugs, ammo cans, 2 backpacks, ect. An Abmat can be simulated by rolling a towel up, or using a similar sized object (like a small couch pillow, or a packaged bed sheet set). Scaling options and standards for submitted workouts can be found at https://games.crossfit.com/workouts/open/2021/3?division=1&workout_type=scaled

▶ INTENDED STIMULUS

.

This is a nice and fast chipper! Like every chipper will place high demands on the endurance of your muscles. However first three movements will allow you to keep a very good cadence, so the first part will feel highly aerobic (i.e. you will be sweaty and breathing hard). When you get to the thrusters you will need to go, because it is the last movement and the load is not heavy. This all means that this workout will hit your hard right at then end. It definitely has a punch! Aim to keep it in the 7-10 minute window. Scale the weight to something that will allow you to do the deadlifts unbroken. It does not mean that's what you should do, but pick a weight in your head you are confident you will be able. This will determine the weight for your thrusters. Chose a height on the box that you can cycle through efficiently and without stopping. Go out, let it burn and have fun!
