400/500-meter row

Rest 3 minutes between efforts.

Scaling:
Today’s workout consists of five all-out sprints on the rower. Don’t game anything here. Put your foot on the gas pedal from the start and hang on for a wild ride. Scale the distance as needed to ensure each effort takes no more than 2 minutes to complete. Remember, these are sprints.

Intermediate option:
Same as Rx’d.

Beginner option:
5 rounds, each for time, of:
200/250-meter row

Rest 3 minutes between efforts.

Coaching cues:
To increase stroke rate, when you reach the end of your pull, quickly extend your arms, then use your feet to pull your body forward and back into the next stroke.

I'm on the same rower I was in 2013, w/ no maintenance except oiling the chain and cleaning the rail occasionally. I suspect I'm missing something important.

Those are still great times & nicely consistent. The only other maintenance I can think of is maybe vacuuming the flywheel; dust builds up, especially if used a lot.

Yeah, that burned the legs. Had to jog (with a soft j) about .61 mile (1 lap around grounds) to get some stability back into the legs and flush out some lactic acid. Lots of stretching and rolling too.

Thanks guys! Yes Dark Horse Rowing is a program headed by Shane Farmer. He has really great tutorials, tips "row along" workouts etc. Patrick, I found it extremely helpful & it definitely improved my rowing, especially working out mostly at home. Fun too. I recommend! He is also on IG & YouTube if you want to check it out first.

I am slowly beginning to realize that I'm not a hot-shot, but rather a one-shot (I basically had the same result last time when we did 800m repeats, I slowed down tremendously after a quick first round).


Also played around with the damper setting a little bit. A slightly higher setting seems to be much better for sprints.
