Scaling:
Today’s workout is a single-modality gymnastics effort. More advanced athletes should challenge their muscular stamina and move through the reps as quickly as possible. Less-experienced athletes who have the capacity to perform a few strict muscle-ups should try to accumulate as many as possible in a 15-minute window. Athletes without the capacity to perform strict muscle-ups should choose modifications that work both pulling and pushing strength (e.g., strict pull-ups, banded strict pull-ups, false-grip ring rows, strict ring dips, and push-ups).

Intermediate option:
Complete as many reps as possible in 15 minutes:

3 ring rows
3 push-ups

Coaching cues:
Before you simply skip today, consider this: The muscle-up might be difficult to perform, but it is also unrivaled in building upper-body strength and perhaps most important of all, a critical survival skill.

This movement gets you from under things to on top of them. And when it comes to preparing for the unknown and unknowable, that might be one of the most important adaptations to develop.

I práctice and scale this workout, first, a practice ring rows, and adaptions for the RMU and jumping ring Muscle a litle bite for práctice better, then i do the kipping Ring Muscle Ups for time.


30 kipping Ring Muscle Ups for time 17 minutes Whit 40 seconds


All practice and workout took me 1 hour

Looks like the morning post didn’t stick…


did low ring transition practice for 30 reps. 5:30 ish. Subbed in strict pu and dip work the last two times this was prescribed. Kind of a box check after a long holiday of not exercising.

Thanks! An eight second PR 🙃 Did it EMOM trying to get 6 per min to get to sub-6 but ended up going 6,6,5,5,4,3…way too much rest…1. Sub-6 is still the EOY goal

Skipping today’s workout while we ride out Hurricane Beryl.


I’ll probably get in some yoga and stretching while we wait for the power to come back on.


So far so good only two small trees down and a screen on my patio is damaged. 🌀☔️

30 Weighted Bar Dips (30# DB)

Did this in sets of 3 and 3 vice chipper style last time. Subbed weighted bar dips for rings because no rings today. Also, did strict CTB vice kipping last time. Extra transitions mean added time but I think I got more out of the WOD this time compared to when last programmed. Did negatives for both afterward and ran to a different bar to try to get a few kipping MUs (got close but no cigar today).


Compare to 220603: 6:27, 30 CTB pull-ups, 30 Ring Dips, chipper style

Buy In: Did 0706 WOD as Rxd with runs/sprints outside. 90°-100% humidity -posted there kudos again to all who participated in that little beast in the heat.

Then:

10 rounds of:

3 TRX rows to low transition

3 dips between 2 chairs- 1 leg elevated

3 bent over rows -75# barbell

3'toe-assisted pull ups - one leg only*closest I've felt to a "real pull up"


Went a little over the 15 mins to @18:38

Today taught me, as I was sprawled on the front lawn, recovering from all the running, that I better hope my husband is home if I have a true medical emergency outside, because my neighbors will all be like, "She's just doing her CrossFit thing." Lol.

I did ring muscle ups until the skin in my palm started fading, then switched to bar muscle ups to finish the undertaking:

15 strict Ring MU: 9:00

15 strict Bar MU: 7:48

Total: 16:48


I'm better at Bar Muscle ups because I specialized in calisthenics a few years ago and did them on the bar exclusively. Back then I could do 25 strict ones in 7:24 (but definitely wouldn't have been able to backsquat as much as now)

Globo wod: if you have rings or the gym has some, go as Rxed or follow the scaling listed. If no rings are available you have some options. If you can do bar muscleups on the available pullup bar do 3 rounds 10 bar muscleups and 10 weighted bar dips or TRX dips. If the bar isnt suitable for BMU and you have a TRX do 15 rounds 3 strict chest to bar pullups and 3 deep TRX dips. No TRX? Then do 15 rounds of 3 weighted bar dips 15/25lbs dumbbell or dip belt, and 3 strict chest to bar pullups. Unweighted (such as at Planet Fitness or hotel gym with a power tower) go AMRAP 15 3 strict pullups 3 strict dips.
