Weighted pull-up 5-5-5-5-5 reps
Broad jump 3-3-3-3-3 reps

Establish a max broad jump during your warm-up. Take a slight distance off of it and complete the broad jump 3 times after each set of pull-ups.

Post loads, body weight, and broad jump distance to comments.


Scaling:
Most athletes can perform the pull-ups and broad jumps as prescribed. Experienced athletes can go as heavy as possible. Athletes without strict pull-ups can use this session to practice a modification that will challenge their pulling ability.

Beginner Option:
Banded pull-up 5-5-5-5-5 reps
Broad jump 3-3-3-3-3 reps

Used 22 pound med ball for all pull-ups. Longest jump was 9.5 feet. 215 body weight.

Just had a slow pulling and jumping day. Pulling strength is one of my stronger points. Not a fan of weighted pullups, but maybe ill see some progressive overload gains with the chain. Broad Jumps were short fat man jumps. BoxJumps felt good. Ribs felt awkward on the broad jumps.

Used 25 DB for all pull-ups, strict, unbroken

All jumps between 6'9" and 7'2"


Loaded up a 45# ruck and did 80 box step-ups (20") with 1 pull-up every 10 step-ups afterward.


Boz, it has been a great set of programming from you, and it is very much appreciated that you took the time and effort to provide us all with the programming information you gave.

PU 25,30,35(barely),35,37.5(missed last rep by about 1”).

Initial max for BJ was 93”, but just went for it each rep, ended up jumping 96”(8’) in round 4&5. Better than I thought.

My usual warmup: a bunch of shoulder and back mobility/stretches/warmups, then

15 OHS, 45# bar

15 ring dips

25 GHD sit-ups

25 push-ups

21 hip extensions

8 pull-ups (normally 10-12, except on pull-up days)


Today's WOD

10# 67-65-70"

15# 68-70-71"

20# 70-71-73"

20# 71-76-73"

20# 73-74-75"

That was fun! First broad jumps in years, maybe decades. Didn't establish a max, just went all out each dead-standing jump.

In retrospect I should have started heavier. In every set, PU#5 was a bear, so I added only a little; but all 5 sets were completed without pause.

Globo wod: as is. Use a dip belt or put a dumbbell between your feet. If a pullup bar isn't available do heavy lat pulldowns. Broad jumps as is. Bodyweight sub 5 sets of max reps strict pullups, with Broad jumps in between sets of pullups.

Big ups to you, Boz, for not only doing the programming, but also taking the time to give me a glimpse into how you think, organize, and plan. Also just great to hear the humility when you explain the overall block of workouts, knowing that no matter how well-planned a program is, there are always holes and blind spots. Great work my man!


WORKOUT THEMES

FORMAT/MOVEMENT QUESTIONS

Am I athletic enough to get a good workout out of 25 pull-ups and 15 broad jumps?

Do I "touch-and-go" on broad jumps or land and reset briefly after each jump?

What happens halfway through that 5th pull-up when you don't think you're gonna make it up to the bar? Will the chin crank up and legs kick or will you stay strict?

Do I allow a 1-2 step on the broad jump or go from a dead stand-still?

Shoot, I don't know what I was thinking. I did 5 rounds of 5 strict ring pull-ups (originally was going to be 1 rope climb) and 10 push jerks at 115 lbs. A little over 10 minutes.
