Really suck at jump rope which ate up most of my time, but slowly getting better at it.


Completed 1 full round + ~106 single unders in 7 minutes.

First time poster here! Switched from several years of powerbuilding-focused lifting to CrossFit-style workouts about 6 weeks ago.


Scaled to 35# DBs and 40 single-unders (I have a lightweight cheap jump rope and can't get it to move fast enough for double-unders).


Got 5 rounds with 20 seconds to spare. First 3 rounds unbroken on the PPs, so think I'm ready to move the weight up next time and hopefully have a proper jump rope! Would like to work my way up to the RX on this!

Thanks! My numbers were never particularly impressive. I was always fairly athletically average but managed to work up to a 255# Bench, 355# Squat, and 470# Deadlift.


I switched to CrossFit-style training for a couple reasons. One was boredom: learning the new skills and keeping fresh variety in my training just keeps things interesting. The other reason is overall fitness and functionality. Now that I've stopped training martial arts, I don't want to just be strong but not fit and athletic. I want to be decent at lifting, sprinting, jumpibg, climbing, etc. So here I am!

Champions Club Scaling Notes


RANT

Man... one of two things are true: either my shoulder strength and stamina is an astonishingly glaring deficiency, or this workout is truly for the tip of the spear in terms of competitive CrossFitters. I have a difficult time imagining the person who would get the intended workout feel out of this thing. When I think 7-minute workout, I think Helen, the Open burpee workout, Elizabeth, etc. Or... I guess a third thing that could be true is maybe there's a good reason to lay off the intensity and volume today.


WORKOUT THEMES

Weightlifting and monostructural. Pushing overhead, open-circuit (dumbbells instead of bar), jumping with elasticity and accuracy, stamina


SHORT MEDIUM LONG


LIGHT


MEDIUM x


HEAVY


STRENGTH SCALE

AMRAP in 15 minutes of:

5 strict handstand push-ups

5 high box jumps


ACCURACY SCALE

Double unders have to be in a row or else restart; Sub kb swing for dumbbell push press (take away some shoulder demands)


SPEED SCALE

Sub low box jump (touch-and-go) for double unders.
