Low back and forearms need rest so I did 6x800m runs in 40:49. Avg. rest about equal to run times but sometimes a little over or under.

I credit the following factors for the massive PR gain:

  • Better diet resulting in lower body fat percentage and 15-20# lower body weight
  • Lots of endurance training the last 8 months
  • Doing all pull ups as singles—this reduces the negative since I’m dropping out of it resulting in fresher arms


Runs were slow. 4:10-4:20 each. Perhaps this allowed me to attack the KBS faster?


KBS: 13-10-7/14-10-6/15-10-5/15-10-5/15-10-5

Scaled weight to 35# DB (heaviest I have and no KBs), otherwise Rx.

Wow that was a kick in the face, even scaling the weight for the swings! Pretty certain runs were slower than the last time I did that in 2018 (no compare to data), but pull-ups were the real time drag (heavily broken). My goal with the scaled swing weight was to do each set unbroken - accomplished!

Exactly 6 months ago after I took out a loan from my bank and signed an agreement to repay within 4 months, as a single mom things got more complicated and I couldn’t meet up, My credit report was reduced from 850 to 300. Champions Club Scaling Notes


RANT

I probably spend way too much time thinking about General Fear Level when, in reality, a lot of it depends on how it's performed; just about any workout can be a 10 if you make it that way. In general I use a 7 to assign to a regular workout that has you on the floor when you're done. An 8 is when you can't get comfortable on the ground afterwards. A 9 is when you add dizziness to the ground misery. And a 10 is the very worst CrossFit has to offer. The difference between Murph (a 9 in my books) and Eva (a 10) is that localized muscular endurance in the arms plays such a factor that intensity will sacrifice no matter what, especially when done straight through. Usually the longer workouts I leave at like a 9 because of that. Eva has kind of like a full-body stamina effect where the muscles that are getting tired are the major movers like the legs, hips, and core. Same goes for Linda.


WORKOUT THEMES

A benchmark test of stamina in the prime movers and core-to-extremity movements.


ASSUMED

Pull-ups add to the cardio/endurance effect of the workout, not act as a rest station.


MAIN DECISION

Keep pull-ups and lower reps, or do ring rows and use the same reps?


TECHNIQUE SCALE

As is, sub 400m run for 800 and cut ROM on pull-ups/kb swings. Lower weight on swings.


CONSISTENCY SCALE

Sub ring rows for pull-ups


INTENSITY SCALE

Either sub 20 burpees for 30 pull-ups, or partition the pull-ups and kb swings each round... or do 10 rounds of 400/15/15


MY STUFF

37:37 as rx'd. Drawn-out misery at its finest. This thing absolutely kicked my ass. Pr was 36:40, but used a 60-lb. dumbbell that time.
