At CrossFit BloNo, we recognize that exceptional coaching is the cornerstone of a successful CrossFit experience. Our dedication to professional development and community cohesion sets us apart, with the Certified CrossFit Trainer (CCFT) credential (the Level 3 Certification) being a key driver of coaching excellence. This advanced credential ensures our coaches have the knowledge and skills to guide athletes at all levels, creating an environment where learning and growth are at the forefront.
If you haven’t considered passing your Level 3 yet, here are the seven areas it tests and the growth you may be leaving on the table if you choose not to pursue it:
- Screening and Ongoing Assessment
- Programming
- Educating
- Training
- Leadership and Management
- Lifestyle Education
- Professional Responsibilities
It’s not easy to get to the point where you can sit for the exam (750 coaching hours). Still, the road to hitting those numbers and then studying and passing the exam is more than worth it when it comes to taking the gym floor every day to deliver the best possible experience to your athletes.
You can learn all about becoming a CCFT here.
The Value of Level 3 Certification
With only 33 Level 3 Trainers in Illinois and fewer than 1% globally, achieving this certification is a rare and significant accomplishment. We’re proud that three of our coaches have reached this level of mastery of the CrossFit methodology. This deep understanding enables our coaches to simplify complex concepts and deliver high-quality instruction across all areas, from movement mechanics to nutrition. This expertise fosters trust and ensures every member interaction is part of a holistic health journey, making our coaches stand out in the global CrossFit community.
A Culture of Learning and Collaboration
At CrossFit BloNo, we believe in a collaborative coaching environment where knowledge is continuously shared. Our CCFTs work together, refining their teaching methods and fostering mentorship among the coaching staff. They coach each other in class, provide feedback to each other, offer ideas, challenge each other to try new coaching skills and embrace a philosophy of continuous learning. This collective growth ensures each class is delivered with consistency, clarity, and a focus on member success. By prioritizing professional development, we create a thriving ecosystem where coaches and athletes excel and where athletes continue to expect greatness from their coaches.
Friendly Competition: Fueling Excellence
A unique aspect of our coaching team is the friendly competition that drives performance. Each class becomes an opportunity to deliver quality instruction and see who can lead the best session of the day. (This is another reason you will find at least one of our coaches taking a group class at all times throughout the day.) We track things such as, but not limited to:
- Which coach had 100% of all members hitting the intended workout stimulus?
- Which coach provided the best whiteboard brief?
- What class had the most first-time athletes hitting a new personal best?
- Who led the best progressions?
- Who wrote the best lesson plan?
This friendly rivalry is all in good spirits and motivates our coaches to bring their CCFT A-game! It also sharpens our coaching skills and motivates us to deliver an exceptional experience for our members every time we take the floor.
Conclusion
At CrossFit BloNo, we’re committed to cultivating world-class coaches who exemplify the CrossFit methodology and elevate the member experience. Our investment in CCFT coaches reflects our unwavering dedication to continuous improvement, ensuring that excellence remains the standard in every class. By fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and friendly competition, we create an environment where both coaches and members thrive.
For all CrossFit affiliate owners and coaches, remember that excellence is our responsibility. By building teams of highly qualified coaches, we uphold the mission of delivering a world-class CrossFit experience for every athlete.
