“CrossFit 180 came at the right time.”
Mixing CrossFit with education and life coaching, 180 Project in the United Kingdom is offering folks a second chance at life.
“The 180 Project is a pathway to recovery whether that’s recovery from addiction, mental health, prison,” explains 180 Men’s Cohort Lead Sam Bardi.
The organization helps adolescents and adults, people struggling with addiction, and former and current inmates break away from negative life cycles while providing a safe space and supportive community to help them rebuild their lives physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially.
“CrossFit can change lives and that isn’t just the physical aspect. In fact, I’d argue it’s more the community aspects and the worth that people gain in themselves from it,” says 180 Prison Coach Oakley Harwick. “And I’d argue that (the) people that would slip through the net need it the most.”
