Got through 20 strict HSPU and 50 DUs in 9 minutes.

Not quite as rx’d.  I only completed the 12 snatches @ 135# at around 6:20.  Was trying to get there under 6, but was smoked and missed rep #11 and had to recover.  Figured I would go ahead and do the next 3-minute chunk, as I wanted to get in some HSPUs.  Dubs went pretty well honestly – two sets for each round.  Did 95# snatches 5-5-5-3-1-1.  The second round of wall walks slowed me down (mental) and the snatches at 135 (singles) slowed me way down (physical).  HSPUs 5-5-5-3-2.

Intermediate. Home gym, time includes weight swaps every round. Quick singles on 115 and 135 lbs.

11:08.

I personally feel like this RXd should have been saved for the QF workout. Those snatches are pretty elite levels of weight as well as hammering out 20 HSPU strict. That with the need to swap weights forced this test to be done at an affiliate if you really want to score well. I can try this RX, but I doubt I make it through 12 reps of snatches at that weight and THEN into 20 HSPU. Just seems like a really elite RXd workout for the Open.

Nearly a minute left to spare - you were flyin dude! Great job!

I sort of agree with you that the Rx test may have been more appropriate for QF at least. I took one look and knew right away it would be pretty unlikely for me to even escape the 6:00 cap let alone the others.

completed RXd 3/4 at Crossfit Rock Solid.

103 reps at the 6 min. buzzer. DU's sucked up way too much time, too many trips. Even if they flew by, doubtful I'd hit 12 snatches at 135 lbs.

Thanks Lincoln, the scaled version felt like it was appropriate for me but was talked into trying it RXd. I saw a couple folks do this RX and get really far, just a different animal to motor through those HSPU and heavy snatches.

Intermediate (a.k.a. Men's Scaled)

3rd time cap reached at 1 rep into the 6 snatch at 135#, so 287 reps if my math is right.

I dropped the weight to 125# and finished the last 5 reps. I had already decided to do every rep regardless of time cap but the 1 rep at 135# was not great, so I felt it better to finish the rest with better technique at a lower weight. What a fun burner! I also dropped the weight further back down to 95# and did several rounds of PS and DU practice after.

  • HSPUs @ 12" strict to abmat

Completed 6mins (at 5:54) and 20 HSPU + 16 DU (at 9:00) = 163 reps

Globo wod: If possible do this at an affiliate. Check map.crossfit.com to find an affiliate near you. If not, and going for an official score please follow the instructions at Games.crossfit.com for filming and setup. If you are not doing this to post a score then of course we can sub as needed. Dumbbells sub dumbbell snatches 35/50/80/100lbs (20/35/50/75 for woman). Wall walks sub 5x 10 feet bear crawls. Strict HSPU sub strict presses at 60-75 bodyweight total for the dumbbells (if your globo doesn't allow HSPU). If 50/35lb dumbbells are the heaviest available, on rounds 3/4 do 12-18 dumbbell squat snatches.

Champions Club Scaling Notes

RANT

I am really a fan of having the word "test" in these because it gives a clear scope of the intention of the stuff listed; a test in school isn't designed to help you learn, it's designed to see where everyone is at and see which kids should be advancing to the next chapter. Also, presenting the Open series as a test, to me, gives the freedom to use different formats. For example, nothing about today's rx is the simple, elegant couplet/triplet we usually see; this involves 4 movements, 4(!) occasions of changing weights, and a rep/time scheme that would require me to go back and check the board to make sure I'm doing the right thing. But this is really just an illustration of what is expected of someone that believes themselves to be elite in CrossFit. So again, I really encourage anyone doing this to simply ask themselves the question, "do I want to test my CrossFit ability today?" Cindy, Helen, Michael, Badger - those are all tests of fitness. Broad, general, and inclusive. What you see written today and the last few weeks of the Open are tests of the sport side of CrossFit. And there is no right or wrong answer to how you do the workout today as long as you know why you're doing it. That being said I didn't give a great effort to get this one in today, so not sure my scaling notes are too accurate.
