10:29 but subbed 20x 12’ rope climb DOUBLE-ups with a jump to start each one. For the turnaround part of each “climb” I lightly tapped both feet on the ground. This blew the arms up more than normal. Pretty good cardio hit too...

As Rx. However my rope only goes up to 13’ on the tree limb I used.

Completed outside in 14:50.

stopped twice to add tape to hands as I was getting a little beat upon the hands.

to me this was quite grip intensive more than back.

fun WOD todo as it was like spring outside today. Ran dog early and long, then chores around house, then snowboarded for about 2 hours but it was too warm and slow for me so I went home, hug the rope and banged it out.

Awesome. I'm 70 in may. I joined xfit St. Catharines 5 years ago march. 30 years of doing nothing, smoking too much, drinking too much. Now I have my life back. Keep going my friend.

Subbed for this workout because a place to hang my rope at a full 15ft in the winter.

15' EMOM of:

1 8ft legless rope climb from seated

Right into

15' EMOM of:

15-second wrap hold, alternating feet

This was tough on the hands in the first EMOM, a good day to get some practice in and really focus on pinching the feet and being comfortable hanging off the rope.

As rx’d, 21:59.

Pretty sure this is the most I’ve done in one workout.  Started with 3 per minute, but that was not sustainable.  Even 2 per minute was too much – my grip needed the break.  Failed only 1 climb (right after 15), so was more diligent and careful getting the wrap after.

Champions Club Scaling Notes

RANT

Nothing to rant about

WORKOUT THEMES

Light and medium. Scaling an obstacle, but also a different take on a classic benchmark originally intended for gymnastics strength, but turned into a benchmark for gymnastics skill.

ASSUMED

Rope burn on the legs will not be a limiting factor

MAIN DECISION

Scale for the specific skill or scale for the general strength/endurance?

TECHNIQUE SCALE

AMRAP in 20 minutes of:

Run 200 meters

1 rope climb (or 60 seconds of practicing leg wrap)

CONSISTENCY SCALE

30 strict muscle-ups for time (or 30 strict pull-ups/dips)

INTENSITY SCALE

2 rounds of:

30 burpees for time

Rest as needed between efforts

*practice rope climbs during the warmup

MY STUFF

Did a partner-style workout, Bubs did 3 down/back shuttles on the turf then 3 rope climbs, then I went. 5 times each

GENERAL FEAR LEVEL: 5

Great story you guys, thank for sharing. Plus Dick seems to be moving with really good form on those cleans, must be some good coaching going on there as well. Keep up the good work guys.
