Today's workout is in honor of Randy Simmons, 51, a 27-year LAPD veteran and SWAT team member who was killed Feb. 7, 2008, in the line of duty. He is survived by his wife, Lisa; son, Matthew; and daughter, Gabrielle.

Scaling:
Today’s Hero workout is a sprint. The loading should feel light (very light for some). Reduce the load so you can perform multiple reps unbroken and complete all the reps in less than 8 minutes. Athletes who are less familiar with Olympic lifting should take time to drill the mechanics of the snatch and reduce the load and reps.

Intermediate option:

1st time, wow, no joke!!


75 x 65lbs = 20.23 minutes


I felt I possibly cheated myself and could have scaled to 70 or 75 lbs. Technique was probably better at 65lbs though. Any advice I'll take it.

weight (34kg) felt very light but my cardio capacity only lasted until rep 25 or so. Then I went down to fives. Made contact to thighs every rep but did not dip under very deeply, so it was more like a muscle snatch than anything else.


Should have been wearing gloves.


Did a set of five chinups with +45lbs afterwards.

Globo wod: If you are using iron plates today either do low hang power snatches or use risers, squat rack safety bars/pins or aerobic steps to elevate the bar to proper height. Dumbbell sub 100 alternating dumbbell power snatches single 30/40lb dumbbell.

My first Randy was in a globogym and I used iron plates and went all the way to the floor. My hamstrings were so sore, I could hardly bend over for days. Thank goodness it was Beach Week!
