5-mile run

Run in 5-minute intervals, stopping after each to perform 50 squats and 50 push-ups before beginning the next 5-minute run interval.

Post time and number of intervals to complete the 5 miles to comments.

U.S. Army Captain Shawn G. Hogan, of Salem, New Hampshire, died Oct. 17, 2012. The 28-year-old was fatally injured in a training exercise at Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area in Golden Pond, Kentucky. He was assigned to Company B, 4th Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) in Fort Campbell. Hogan is survived by his parents, Richard and Jean; and sister, Nicole.

Scaling:
Reduce run distance to complete this workout in 6 sets or less and under 45 minutes in total. Reduce squat and push-up reps as needed to keep the total volume of this workout within your current physiological tolerance.

Intermediate option:
4-mile run

Run in 5-minute intervals, stopping after each to perform 25 squats and 25 push-ups before beginning the next 5-minute run interval.

Beginner option:
2.5-mile walk or jog

Walk or jog in 5-minute intervals, stopping after each to perform 10 squats and 10 knee push-ups before beginning the next 5-minute run interval.

Did this one as a cold run on the trails afterwork. Haven't ran as much this winter and haven't logged much frost points (milesXdegbelow32) for FCRC. Too Stiff and out of shape to hit this one intermediate, so I scaled down a bit. Used the scaling tips to have 6 rounds in 45 min or less. Probably below the hero workout status effort, but I logged 4 miles and a hundred pushups and Squats for solid volume. I think today's coldrun would pass the hero test for intent to honor.


Beautiful day to run on the trail. The sunlight hitting the ponds on the trail was quite tranquil.

This is dang hard.. not used to long[er]distance running

Especially combined with these calisthenics movements....

Had to drag myself at times slowing 🐌 down to power walk 🚶‍♂️...did slightly more than 5K better 2½-3miles with

20 Squats /20 push ups every 5 minutes

Took me approx 30+ minutes

Lost track of where I was near the end, so I accidentally stopped the clock at 31:20 and then had to finish the last bit once I figured out the actual finish was still ahead of me. Guessing 3 minutes; not long enough to trigger another round of movements.

Warm up with 4hrs of hard manual labor clearing brush and hand tiling clay soil.


Rather than messing with multiple clocks outside we performed as such:

Rx - my version (5mi w/ 350 squats and push ups)

8 rounds of a 5/8ths mile run with 7 rounds of 50/50 in between.

Week 9 supplemental Chad prep with Shawn flavor.


3 mile ruck run for time (w/ 40# plate carrier), 10 push-ups and 20 squats at 3 minute intervals.

37:18, 9 intervals


Did a tenth set of 10/20 after 3 miles to bring the total to 100 push-ups/200 squats.

Timed constrained, so I did 3 cycles of 5 min rows, 25/25 squats and push-ups.

Globo wod: If you are using a conventional treadmill use a slight incline. Sub for running is a 10k row (Intermediate 8k, scaled 5k). Scale the pushups and squats down so you finish both in under 5 minutes. Hero wods are meant to be completed, but if in a time crunch do this as a max distance AMRAP wod.
