Been doing a lot of heavy snatch and heavy clean &jerks lately. Probs could've jerked 205. Heavy snatch and heavy clean stamina is just not there.

Went power then squat for each movement until I couldn’t squat the lift.

Snatch worked my way up to 135#, clean and split jerk up to 155#. Form is not great, partly due to limited ROM.


Then did some DB bench press, 60, 65, 70, 75#.

Was away all week and really missed my daily WOD’s. Wasn’t able to join in on the 5K yesterday so i decided to make it the warmup/buy-in for todays WOD! Fun workout for sure. Might have thrown out my left trap a bit on the last snatch I did, definitely sore. Thank goodness tomorrow is a rest day and ibuprofen is a thing.

Globo wod: If you have bumpers and a barbell you're all set. If you're using iron plates today use a weight that you can bring down under control and do sets across at a percentage of your max. Dumbbells sub one arm dumbbell squat snatches alternating arms, and two arm dumbbell clean and jerks. If you max the available dumbbells do AMRAP sets.

Champions Club Scaling Notes


RANT

I have long been a big believer that a 5-lb. difference in a snatch, deadlift, or push press can't be seen on a football field, basketball court, or track; that that difference is more to do with technique for those specific movements rather than overall strength or power. However, I'll be damned if I didn't spend 30 minutes attempting my final power snatch weight because 170 looks way better on paper than 165.


WORKOUT THEMES

Max output followed by full recovery. A test of power, flexibility, and jumping.

FORMAT QUESTIONS

Is my technique good enough to merit doing only 1 rep at a time?

Am I strong enough to get a good response out of doing only 1 rep at a time?


MOVEMENT QUESTIONS

Is my technique good enough to do both movements or should I just focus 100% on one of them?

Is there a difference between power and full snatch from a flexibility perspective?


MY STUFF

Did power snatch to put more emphasis on the jump/unweight. Got 165, missed 170 quite a few times.
