In the video demo it looks like you jump laterally completely over the object, and it looks like you can use an extra side step for momentum.

I haven't been on here that long, but this was the most intimidating workout to date - combo of being afraid of reactiving an old shoulder injury with the SDLHP, and surprisingly, the side jumps are feeling freaky - and I wasn't sure what to expect. Time constraints mean I only did 15-12-9-6-3. Subbed double kbell cleans at 12 kg, and a 9" object to jump over. Next time I can go higher though. Took 7:19. I may redo this one sooner rather than later with a higher object and more reps.

It doesn’t get more CrossFit than that. The SDLHP is one of the most CF unique exercises of the nine foundamental movements from the L1. I wonder how many coaches and athletes regularly teach, program and exercise it? Honestly, in retrospective, I did them all wrong tonight. Does the SDLHP meet the other contestants and is it worth the title? Thoughts?

Globo wod: for box overs you can sub a bench or other comparable height object to jump over. If you don't have a barbell today sub kettlebell SDHP (53/70lb [1.5/2 pood]) or dumbbell SDHP 2x 25/35lb dumbbells.

WORKOUT THEMES

Gymnastics and weightlifting. Jumping, changing orientation, gimmick (although sideways jumps probably would be good to bring up more often), accuracy, core to extremity, shoulder internal rotation


SHORT MEDIUM LONG


LIGHT


MEDIUM x


HEAVY


STAMINA SCALE

Mush everything into 1 round... I'm not doing the math on that after the struggle I had a few days ago


COORDINATION SCALE

Same rep scheme, but make it sumo deadlifts (not high pull) and regular box jumps


SPEED SCALE

Sub burpees for SDHP, or another movement you can do that you already have good technique on. Then practice SDHP during the warmup


MY STUFF

Did regular box jumps (step down) instead of lateral ones. Used the first 2 rounds as warmup then 15 and down was full go. Spicy, as Mel would say. 7:30
