Scaling:

Really struggled to complete overhead Squats with stability. Need to strength core. Wall Walks done unscaled for the first time. Warm-up was 3reps back squat and overhead Squats at 45,70,95lbs. Could barely do 3 reps at 95lbs.

15 minutes of SLIPS today with extra emphasis on the inversion (i.e. HS hold practice). Left elbow wasn’t going to hold up to HSPU and knees were not going to have OHS today (Manion yesterday kinda did me in for today).

60lb DB strict press. 115 lb overhead squat. Intermediate rep scheme.


5 presses and 5 squats(6 was a fail).


humbling during warmup. 75>70>60lb dbs landed on for presses. OHS failed at 135lb so settled with 115. All challenging due to shoulder pain and fatigue.

As rx’d, 12 + 6 + 11/15 HSPU (56 total)


Something to get the body loosened up and the blood flowing after a weekend of camping.  HSPU got really hard – started to break in round 2!  OHS very taxing on the shoulders – but these went really well.  And had only minimal wrist pain.  Had to break the set of 6 (4-2), but other than that very pleased.

Globo wod: If your gym doesn't allow HSPU sub heavy dumbbell strict presses at 60-75 percent of your bodyweight total combined weight of the dumbbells. Overhead squats 35/50 lb dumbbell 4-4-4-8-8-8-12-12-12... alternating halfway through the OHS each set.

Did 3 and 3 for a bit, then switched to 2 and 2. 95 lbs. Shoulders toast. Not really sure about the intended stimulus; 8 minutes suggests high intensity, but with these two movements? And ascending reps? Are my shoulders that weak?

It's not you - OHS are potent on the shoulders and create a lot of interference with HSPU.
