30-ft. burpee broad jump

Scaling:
This workout is moderately heavy and quick. Choose a deadlift load that is challenging but allows you to complete the reps in an unbroken set when fresh. Similarly, consider burpee modifications that allow you to move fast and take limited breaks.

Intermediate Option:
Complete as many rounds as possible in 8 minutes of:
10 deadlifts
30-ft. burpee broad jump

♀ 125 lb. ♂ 185 lb.

Beginner Option:
Complete as many rounds as possible in 8 minutes of:
10 deadlifts
15-ft. burpee broad jump

♀ 65 lb. ♂ 95 lb.

Intermediate Option:

DL unbroken on sets 1 and 8 and last 7 reps.

All other DL sets broken into 6+4 reps.


Edit: Did between 7 and 8 bbj reps per round.

As rx’d, 6 rounds + 3 DL.


Unbroken deadlifts through 3 rounds, then broke 6-4.  Burpee broad jumps took 4 reps to cover 30 feet. Did after heavy squats.

As RXd. 15' one way, 15' back for the BBJ.


7 rounds with 1 second to go.


All deadlifts were unbroken and the broad jumps were each 4 reps, between 7-8' each BBJ. Quick burner.

Nothing to rant about


WORKOUT THEMES

Challenging the quality of our jumping with some good ol' fashioned leg/midline fatigue.


MAIN DECISION

Is my technique good enough to make 8 minutes the best time frame? Meaning, can I keep my back flat while moving fast? And also can I keep the rhythm and good landing position on burpees?


TECHNIQUE SCALE

Same movements and reps (maybe just regular burpee), 16 minutes instead of 8


CONSISTENCY SCALE

Just do the broad jumps instead of the burpee before it, same time frame.


INTENSITY SCALE

Keep deadlifts unbroken at whatever weight is necessary, lower burpee number.


INJURY SCALE

Upper-body - Consistency scale

Lower-body - toes to bar and push-ups for 16 minutes


MY STUFF

Did a few sets with deadlifts and a few sets with kb swings using Ol' Red. Burpee broad jumps took 5 reps to cover 30 feet, give or take.

Did a beginner(ish) scale, twice:

--

Complete as many rounds as possible in 8 minutes of:

15 DB deadlifts | 2x 15kg DB

5 meters burpee broad jump

1st score: 5 rounds in 7' 55'' / 5' break / 2nd score: 6 rounds in 8' 17''

Even in this scaled form, it's a wicked one. Still, very much enjoyed it, so did it twice 👍

Cash out: 30 additional deadlifts for good measure. Probably not a good idea, as I have a virtual 10k run tomorrow, but it felt good.

5 km easy run in the early morning.

DLs unbroken each round, 6 burpees to cover 30' each round (5' span to jump is all I could open up in the garage). Kinda slow-mo today and too much breathing between rounds. Nice WOD, thanks HQ.
