As rx’d as possible: 12’ climb from seated, so first 2-3 pulls were legless each climb: 3 rounds plus 3 climbs and 1 push press Broke push press 7/5. Double unders were garbage today. Finally did 50 in less than 5 sets on the last round. Gassed and arms became fatigued on the climbs. Push presses at 135lb. felt lighter than they have lately.

95# for 12...would’ve broken them up too much (no smaller plates with me) & DUs were a struggle today. Could be b/c my ropes are outside so my DU were done on dirt.

Champions Club Scaling Notes


RANT

Like the thruster, the push press is an opportunity to challenge jumping, landing, squatting (which is the same thing minus leaving the ground), midline stability, foot stability, pushing, and rhythm. Pick maybe one or two of those things to emphasize for today.


WHAT ABOUT THE MOVEMENTS

Rope climb - scaling an obstacle with an exaggeration on pulling

Push press - overhead pushing with skill (core-to-extremity)

Double under - elastic jumping with an extra dose of accuracy


MAIN DECISION

Is 12 minutes enough for my skill level on these movements?


TECHNIQUE SCALE

As is, extend to 20 minutes or more


CONSISTENCY SCALE

As is.


INTENSITY SCALE

Sub 6 burpees (with high jump) for rope climb, sub 18 box jumps (touch-and-go) for double under, still for 12 minutes.


INJURY SCALE

Upper body - AMRAP in 15 minutes of: 15 box jumps (touch-and-go), 15 one-arm push press

Lower-body - Practice legless rope climbs and handstand push-ups for 30 minutes

Not feeling it today - stiff, sore and run down. Tried to maintain something close to the grip of a rope without doing towel PU (right hand is torn up). Changed to 100 SU after the first round because I was tripping up too much on the DU. Did a bunch of DU practice afterwards to get used to my new rope.
