This October, Forging Youth Resilience (FYR), formerly Steve’s Club, is hosting IGNITE, a community workout event that will raise funds to empower youth athletes.
FYR is a 501c3 nonprofit that connects with fitness facilities nationwide to bring fitness, nutrition, and mentorship to youth who otherwise would not have access to these services.
CrossFit CEO Eric Roza recently joined FYR for a leadership camp in Boulder, Colorado, where he led a leadership workshop and workout.
“A great leader is someone you would follow even if they were younger than you, even if they didn’t have a big title, even if they hadn’t been doing something as long as you had, but people tend to line up behind them. … That is a real big symbol of great leadership,” Roza said.
Ray, a participant at the camp, said FYR “shows me that I can do so much more than I thought I could. I’m capable of so much more than I thought — physically, mentally, emotionally, socially.”
Sapjah, another camper, said, “It gives me hope. It tells me that I’m worth having what I dream of.”
