Hildon Carvalho qualified for the 2023 NOBULL CrossFit Games in the adaptive lower extremity division. The Brazilian athlete from CrossFit Park Extreme placed third overall and stood atop the podium after three grueling days of competition.
“I put all my work, all my training, everything we practice, we trained before, I put it all into play this week,” Carvalho said through an interpreter.
But the journey to Madison, Wisconsin, from Brasilia, Brazil, was no easy feat. Owner and head coach of CrossFit Park Extreme Laisa Santana said their whole community helped get him there.
“I’m proud of the medal but that’s not what it’s all about,” Santana said. “For him to be here today, we got everybody from the affiliate to chip in and pay for his trip to come here. Three-hundred people living the dream of one person.”
