Go behind the scenes with four friends as they take the CrossFit Level 2 Certificate Course. The group met through CrossFit, and they have lost a combined 600 pounds while living the CrossFit lifestyle. While none of the four initially saw CrossFit as a pathway to becoming a coach, each realized they had something great to offer to the CrossFit community through coaching.
“I’ve been CrossFitting for about 4.5 years. I’ve lost about 185 pounds with CrossFit alone but a total weight loss of 230 pounds,” Al Sagapolutele said. “Coaching was something that I didn’t go looking for when I first started CrossFit. There was no realm of possibility in my head that I’d be one day coaching CrossFit.”
Like many individuals who take the CrossFit Level 2, the four showed up with some apprehension on the first day of the course. However, they quickly realized the trainers “have their best interests at heart,” Jen Pendleton said, which opened the door for learning, being vulnerable among their peers, and becoming better coaches.
