In this interview with CrossFit Seminar Staff member Joe Westerlin (CF-L4), Jenkins begins to explain the reasons for the academic bias toward aerobic exercise. He states that current guidelines recommending 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise are the byproduct of consensus science. Such recommendations are not supported by health metrics and data.

Dr. Nathan Jenkins is an integrative exercise physiologist and professor of exercise science at the University of Georgia. He is also a CrossFit athlete. His primary research interest is in determining the impact of acute and chronic exercise on cardiovascular and metabolic health. On Thursday, Sept. 17, at 5 p.m. PT, he will offer a live webinar with CrossFit Health, focusing on his current research into the science behind mainstream exercise guidelines.

During the webinar, Jenkins will discuss the causes and stakes associated with the absence of training involving the glycolytic energy pathway in the mainstream exercise prescription.
