The CrossFit Level 2: Actionable Cues for Coaching the Overhead Squat

After the identification of a fault, the trainer should provide a cue for correction.

Cues should fit the following criteria:

Short – Simple – Actionable – Specific 

One simple, effective cueing strategy involves focusing on a body part and an action.

Examples:

  • “Knees out”
  • “Hips back”
  • “Squeeze your butt”
  • “Shoulders first”

The CrossFit Level 2 Certificate Course provides participants with several opportunities to receive feedback on their training skills in a supportive environment.

Course instructors observe small segments of coaching drills, and provide actionable feedback for immediate improvement, as well as considerations for long-term practice and development.
