Often, athletes may only be able to achieve depth at the expense of maintaining a neutral spine, as seen in this sequence with CFHQ Flowmaster Matt Lodin (CF-L4). Lodin corrects the athlete by bringing him up to just below parallel, then refining other primary points of performance. Over time, this same tactic should be used to get the athlete to squat even lower while maintaining a neutral spine. Working to develop this capacity will allow the base skill of the air squat to influence the success of other, more complex movement demands, such as receiving a clean.
