For time:
2,000-meter row

Stimulus and Strategy:
Today’s workout is a benchmark. If you have completed this benchmark previously, look back to your last attempt and use the information to help you attack the row. Push for a PR today. If this is your first time, ease into your first 500 meters and try to increase your pace the further you get into the effort. Most athletes can perform this effort as prescribed and record a benchmark time in the CrossFit Games app.

Scaling:
Reduce the total distance of the effort.

In case of injury or limitation, perform a 1,600-meter run or 3,500/5,000-meter Echo bike.

Intermediate option:
Same as Rx’d.

Beginner option:
On an 8-minute clock:
Row meters for distance

Coaching cues:
In your first 500 meters, hold 1-3 seconds faster than your target pace overall. In the middle 1,000 meters, pull back to your target pace. In the final 500 meters, find out what’s left in the tank.

Forgot to post earlier... in place of 2k row, I did 150 burpees in the sand while watching the sunrise at the beach. Had to keep leveling it back out to fill in the holes I was digging.

M/37/170lb(77.22kg)/5’7”(170cm)

My row machine display is busted so I just did strokes for time on max tension: 310 strokes in 8 minutes following the coaching cues, x2. Taking a 1min break then 3min jump rope and then another 1min break to final row session. Finished out with an additional 3min double under progression session and a chill dude walk.

Not a PR but better than the 7:20’something in August as part of a fitness test. Today was not a comparison to 240213 as the WOD description suggests - 3x2km efforts at the same intensity would not be happening for most.

Favo, have you done the concept 2 test to determine optimal drag setting? 9 seems pretty high…then again, you are a fitness overachiever!

I haven't tried that, Jim. I always feel better with the resistance high, but I will try it. I need to fix something for sure, because I shouldn't be this slow for as hard as I'm working. Definitely inefficient, which shows up in my calorie row times too.

Strong effort as always, but I think you may be on the right path about your efficiency! Recommend what Jim said. Also, I’m pretty sure I recall a female Olympic medalist for crew stating that no erg record has ever been set with the drag above 5.

Thank you both. & Thanks Jonathan too for the encouragement. Lincoln, I am definitely going to do the test & experiment at much lower drags. I think my form is skewed for the lower range to feel so off. I haven't rowed as much in the past year; time to get back to it! Thanks again, all. Next time: sub 8!
