Workout of the Day

67

For time:
Ruck 5 miles
or
Run 6 miles

♀ 30 lb
♂ 45 lb

Post time to comments.

Compare to similar 240203.

Scaling:
Today’s workout challenges you to get outside and move with weight for more than an hour (for most). Expect this to be both a mental and physical grind. If you’re new to rucking or a newer athlete, move at a march pace and reduce the distance to complete the run or ruck in no more than 35 minutes. If you’re more experienced, feel free to pick up the pace. For the 6-mile run option, consider your recent 5K run effort and attempt to hold a more manageable pace. For clarity, the run option is meant to be completed without load.

Intermediate option:
Same as Rx’d.

Beginner option:
For time:
Ruck 2 miles
or
Run 3 miles

10 lb
15 lb

Coaching cues:

Mental fortitude is a side of training often overlooked. It’s not easy to find solace in true discomfort. Rucking, however, offers the opportunity to develop both the psychological and physical components of our fitness by forcing us to dig deep through discomfort, develop grit, and come out stronger on the other side.

Rucked 3 miles with my 5 year old son in hiking carrier. Wanted to go the full Rx distance but we were equally done after 3. Not sure he enjoyed all the jostling but he was a trooper. Hah. 41:31.

Dropped him off and changed to a 20 lbs vest. Jogged a 5 km in 31:07.

Out early to beat the heat; was already 90°+ 95% humidity & blazing sun...

5 mile ruck/(40# total) 20# plate carrier/holding 2 10# plates. A bit of jogging, mostly fast walking & some wanting to drop down & crawl:

Globo wod: If possible get outside and do this one today, run or ruck. Use a backpack or ruck sack if rucking and use a trail in a park. If it all you have a 20/14lb vest plus heavy stick/pipe or body armor with a duty belt (use training equipment) and faux rifle can work (or if you're in the military use simulation gear). Firefighters can use turnouts and air tank/gear. For those of you who are running, It is OK if you do this as a 10 K run (6.2 miles), especially if you have a time for that or are training for that distance (Compare to 210723). If you are in a global gym using a conventional treadmill use a slight incline. Row sub is 12000 m row, outdoor bike is 18 mile bike ride, Assault/echo bike 600 calories.
