Scaling:
Nancy: Choose a load that allows you to complete most of the OHS unbroken. The challenge of this workout is to keep an aggressive pace on each element knowing that neither the lifting nor the running are so demanding on their own that you’ll need extended rests. Advanced athletes should resist the temptation to add load and instead commit to a run pace that’s just a little too hot.

Helen: Most athletes should aim to complete the swings and pull-ups unbroken. If you anticipate needing to break either movement more than one or two times, reduce the weight of the swings and consider completing ring rows instead of pull-ups. If you can complete Helen in less than 8 minutes, consider trying Helena from this year’s Games.

Just planned today as a tempo intervals workout. Ran on the treadmill and could've probably went out hotter, but still out of shape and running form. Back blew up on the 3rd round. Side stitch on 3rd round. Overhead stability was a struggle. Probably could've went lighter and focused on unbroken, but I wanted 65lbs.


Curious as to outdoor Nancy time and how I'll feel doing 5rds next time

Did this on CAP 6 weeks ago and again today, so had a realistic target, then i got 9:36.


I knew i had to try and get 3:10 splits to beat it, i tried to go out pretty hot, this was not a good strategy i burned on the last round.

Tried to stay consistent or get faster on runs and go unbroken on ohs but had to break after 13 on the 95lb set. Rested a little over a minute after OHS and a little under 2 minutes after runs. Fasted like last time….runs under 2:10

As rx’d, 31:59. 


Either of these on its own is way too scary, but interestingly putting them both together did not sound too bad.  Goal here was to go reasonably hard, but stay below redline.  Unbroken reps on everything.  OHS and KB swings went surprisingly well.  The work from Helen is much more intense than the work from Nancy, which I had not fully appreciated before this mashup.

Appreciate the tips on scaling - made a big difference in my pace. It was tempting to rest after completing the run, but knowing I could move the barbell unbroken into round 4 and 5 kept the intensity up.

Globo Wod: For Nancy: as Rx. Control the bar down to the ground after each set if using iron plates. If your gym bans overhead squats do 15 front squats 115/75lb. If you are without a barbell today do 10 OHS left handed then 10 OHS right handed per round, 35/20lb dumbbell. If overhead movements are banned, do 15 front squats, 50/35lb dumbbells. Note, dumbbell OHS are difficult so scale as necessary. Subs for running are 500m row or 27 calorie assault/echo bike. If using a conventional treadmill use a slight incline.



Busy gym: either do all the OHS then run 2000m, or do the dumbbell option. If you have to hog a treadmill or erg do so, or drag a dumbbell to the track.



For Helen: If the pullup bar available isn’t conducive to kipping sub 8 strict pullups per round. Sub for the kettlebell swings are dumbbell swings with a 35/50lb dumbbell. Lock your hands together and Hold the dumbbell with one head above and one head below your hands. Subs for running on this one are 500m row or 27 calories assault or echo bike. You can also sub 25 burpees for the run. As always if using a conventional treadmill use a slight incline.


Busy gym: do 3 rounds for time of 21 swings and 12 pullups, then go to the track or treadmill and do a 1200m run. Or go ahead and do the burpees sub.
