Globo wod: Any bike with a calorie reader will work; C2, Schwinn, Xebex, Assault, Echo, Peloton (if it has a calorie reader), ect. Note type of bike used. Subs for bike are calories row or Assault/Woodway runner, or distance (meters) on a conventional treadmill divided by 10. 25ft shuttle sprints can also be used as a last resort, down and back=2 reps. Burpees as Rxed.

Champions Club Scaling Notes


RANT

One of the things that's worth repeating on here as often as I do is that it's helpful to look at these workouts within the context of the other ones around them, not just as individual, stand-alone things. For example, there's a major archetype the shoulder has to be competent in, which is called the "Press archetype." (Bottom of the push-up or bottom of the dip). In order to be competent in this range of motion, you need to have extension and internal rotation down pretty well. Check Kelly Starrett's stuff for a better explanation. Anyway, think about all the recent workouts that have involved the press position:

  • a good chunk of Hero workouts (Murph, Whitten, Riley, Clovis, etc.)
  • wallball/row
  • squat clean/muscle-up
  • hspu/rower
  • pull-up/ring dip/ohs
  • step-up/push-up/snatch
  • Army test
  • today's

If you are truly looking to forge elite fitness, then you need to be able to be competent in that shape enough to withstand a heavy dose like this. Just know where you're at now. Look at the themes of the workout more than the specifics. If running or light clean and jerk or double unders or box jumps gives you a cardio dose that w burpee would, then don't be married to the code that says "burpee" for 40 seconds. In the grand scheme of things, this is an interval workout used to challenge our recovery at a pace a little slower than a sprint; there's lots of ways to get that dose.
