Workout of the Day

45

12 rounds for time, starting with 1 and adding an exercise each round:

1 wall walk
2 candlesticks
3 burpees
4 push-ups
5 walking lunges
6 air squats
7 sit-ups
8 jumping squats
9 jumping lunges
10 broad jumps
11 handstand push-ups
12 pistols

Perform the workout like the "12 Days of Christmas" song. In round 1, perform 1 wall walk. In round 2 perform 2 candlesticks and then 1 wall walk. In round 3, perform 3 burpees, then 2 candlesticks, then 1 wall walk. Continue adding a new exercise each round.

counted the walking lunges as 1 rep each leg, but the jumping lunges as both legs = 1. any insights to which way is correct?

I did 5 total lunges and 9 total lunges each time. Unless it specifies 5 each leg or 9 each leg I always perform the workout that way. It also doesn't say to alternate so if you are wild you could do each lunge with the same side really, which ever way gets the most work done the quickest and safest (technique).

As Rx. Completed in 23:15. I did this one early after running the dog outside hurrying to get it done before we opened presents.

First time trying this one. It’s a fun mix up. I did no warm ups or real stretching. I was super stiff, surprisingly so on the pistols, but all the other movements felt fine and easy.

not sure why the pistols felt so awkward and why I was so stiff but I did no warm ups and didn’t really prep for that so that could be it?

As rx’d, 16:06 (PR).


2+ minute PR from last year.  Was able to push through the jumping lunges and jumping squats without breaks this time.  Broke HSPUs the same (7-4).  All the rest unbroken, except for broad jumps where I had to turn around (did this in Mom’s basement).  Also had a better setup, so not as much walking

around to get back to the wall.

27:27 as rx’d in a hospital parking lot because my gf won’t let me do it in her apartment courtyard ;) Took it slow but it still felt hard. No warmup. Active recovery week. Usually 3 weeks behind but this seemed appropriate today.

Globo scale: If you don't have a wall for hs work do 20 feet bear crawl and hspu piked on a chair or bed, or heavy dumbbell presses. If you don't have pistols you can sub to bulgarian split squats.

Champions Club Scaling Notes


RANT

Man... they got me Mike! A calendar was this year's surprise gift. And it wasn't enough to just have Chrisfacewedding on the front cover, but they photoshopped me onto some rather interesting pictures to go with each month. Harry Potter was one. The Easter Bunny. A very suggestive picture of cupid. The JJ McCarthy and Franz Wagner ones were kinda cool, though.
